About

The Farnham Beer Project is an initiative of Transition Farnham, part of the global Transition movement which aims at promoting community resilience  and empowerment in a rapidly changing world. Transition is about communities taking local action for global change or, as some say, “thinking globally, acting locally”.  There is plenty more about this at http://www.transitionfarnham.wordpress.com

The Beer Project is a step towards this by re-localising a small part of our food system, in this case, growing the hops for a community beer. At the heart of the project are the Farnham Hoppers who will elect to grow a hop plant, cultivating it with lots of TLC and at the end of the season harvesting the hop blossom for a local brewer to transform into a glorious green beer!

This great, new project is a wonderfully simple idea yet rich in its promise of collaboration among Farnham Hoppers, all of which will be celebrated in a Green Beerfest in October ’14.

It is a project designed to be fun and much of this blog, and a facebook page too, will be dedicated to that.
